Singer-songwriter, guitarist, likes the blues, poor eyesight, say Hi plus name, decent ears
Syakir (Instagram, Spotify) is an albino guitarist & singer-songwriter based in Malaysia. He is mainly influenced by the blues but he also plays pop, rock and hip hop.
Highlights
- Performed at Where Else Sunway, The Bee, Merdekarya, KL Journal, Ploy, Dataran Merdeka (finishing top 10 in a national talent battle), Volkswagen Festival and Urbanscapes 2019.
- Several songs Syakir wrote or co-wrote have been featured on local media outlets
- Snapfingers, a 2020 self-produced solo release, reached Top 4 on Hitz FM Malaysian English Top 10
- Catch Feelings (2021), another self produced solo release, was featured on Rakita Lokalah chart.
- Released an indie blues EP, Jika Kau Biru with The Rombongan, which has been described as a continuation of the Malaysian blues legacy and was shortlisted under Vans Best Top 100.
- Coretan Diari was featured on Demi Dia (2013), a TV3 Akasia drama produced by Aziz M Osman
- Izinkan was nominated for Muzik Muzik 29 (2014)
